At West Mifflin Area School District, we believe that strong partnerships between families and schools are essential to student success. Family engagement is the collaborative relationship between schools and families that supports students’ academic achievement, personal growth, and well-being.
Our district is committed to building welcoming, inclusive, and empowering environments where families are valued as equal partners in their children's education. We provide families with tools, resources, and opportunities to actively participate in school activities, decision-making, and learning—both inside and outside the classroom.
As a Title I district, we ensure that all schools receiving Title I funding develop and implement:
- A Family Engagement Policy co-created with families *discussed at annual meeting in the fall
- An annual Title I Parent Meeting *to be held in the fall of current school year
- A School-Parent Compact outlining shared responsibilities for student success
- Regular, accessible communication in families’ home languages
- Family workshops and events focused on academic support, student well-being, and college and career readiness
Together, we work to remove barriers and foster meaningful, two-way communication so that all families—regardless of background—feel connected, informed, and empowered.
When families engage, students thrive!
