Following, please find the District's Proof of Residency Policy.  This document and all required registration forms and documents are available for download under the Student Registration File through the Files & Document Tab on the right.

In order to protect the rights and privileges of the residents and students of the West Mifflin Area School District, the parents/guardians of all students registering in the school district must present two acceptable proofs of residence to the school as part of the registration process before a student is permitted to attend school.

This policy pertains to all students registering in all grades (K-12) including original entries (E1 and E2) and re-entries (R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7).

Acceptable proofs of residence include the parent’s /guardian’s current:

A.  *Mortgage or lease agreements (temporary proof only, see below).

B.    Driver’s license

C.    Auto registration

D.    Utility bills

E.    Tax statements

F.    Check stub from wages, public assistance or social security

The above list of acceptable proofs is subject to change at any time.

*Mortgage and lease agreements are temporary proofs of residence only. After 30 days, a resident must submit two other proofs of residence from the above list. Failure to do so will result in the student being removed from the school rolls.

Residents Housing Adults with School-Age Children in Their Home

When parents with school aged children take up residence in the home of a school district resident (e.g. a grandparent), the resident must complete a district-provided form (sample A) attesting to the fact that the people listed on the form fully reside in the resident’s home. This form must be notarized. Within 30 days, the adult living in the home of the resident must provide two acceptable proofs of residence.

Copies of proofs of residence will be made and placed in the student’s file. The home school visitor will act as the resource person to this policy.

The District reserves the right to request proofs of residence of any resident with school age children at any time.
