Title I is a federally funded supplemental education program that provides financial assistance to local education agencies to improve educational opportunities for children.
The Title I program was established to develop competence and interest in reading and math. Students who show a need in either or both subject areas receive assistance.
The goal of Title I is to provide the opportunity for students to meet state content and performance standards in reading, writing, and mathematics through: extended learning time a high quality curriculum instruction by a highly qualified staff increased family involvement Parents of all children in all Title I schools may request and receive timely information regarding the professional qualifications of the children's classroom teachers. Title I Parent Advisory Council Meeting On Friday, May 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., the West Mifflin Area School District will hold a Parent Advisory Council Meeting at Westwood Golf Club, located at 825 Commonwealth Avenue, West Mifflin. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the 2010-2011 Title I programming, overview the 2009-2010 Title I program and elect Title I officers for the 2010-2012 school years.
