West Mifflin Area School District 2015-2016

 West Mifflin Area School District families have the option to purchase insurance through the school district as part of the 6th grade iPad one-to-one initiative. All families are encouraged to participate in the insurance option, but are not required to do so.  Families who do not choose to purchase insurance are responsible for the full cost of repair and/or replacement of a damaged or lost iPad.

   1st Incident: Full cost

   2nd Incident:  Full cost 

   3rd Incident:  Full cost


Examples of costs: 

Screen replacement: $150, Lost/stolen: $270



   1st Incident: Covered 

   2nd Incident: $50

   3rd Incident: $100


Lost/stolen: $100




The following items are covered under the policy:                           

  • accidental damage     

  • fire, flood, or natural disaster

Intentional damage is NOT covered under the policy.

Loss or theft of device carries a $100 deductible for the insurance plan; no cost option pay for full amount of device.


To file a claim, both the parent and student must be present. The damaged iPad must be presented (or police report if theft occurred) to the school office. The parent and student will be required to complete a claim form and pay the deductible. Every effort will be made to immediately replace the iPad with the same model of the damaged or stolen one. If the same model is not available, the student may receive an older model iPad.
